Phase 1 — Voice Companion (Week 1)
Goal
A working voice conversation with a Companion that builds your LifeLine as you talk. No headset needed. Just your phone and me.
How It Works
- You talk to me via Telegram voice notes
- I respond as the Companion — a warm, curious guide who remembers everything
- The Companion asks questions that naturally surface LifeLine data
- I log the conversation, extract timeline entries, location associations, relationships
- At the end of each session, you have a growing LifeLine entry in your Stone
What We Need
- Voice notes back and forth (Telegram already supports this)
- A session prompt that primes me to stay in Companion persona
- A lightweight logging format for LifeLine data extracted from conversation
Success Criteria
- You have a 15-minute conversation with the Companion
- After the conversation, you can see a LifeLine entry that captures something real
- You feel like you talked to a person, not filled out a form
Phase 2 — Location-Aware Companion (Week 2)
Goal
The Companion knows where you are and incorporates it naturally. Walking through Grass Valley, driving to the lake, sitting at home — the Companion adjusts its attention accordingly.
How It Works
- Your phone already sends location data to the server (via GPS Logger)
- I read your current location at the start of each session
- The Companion comments on context: "You're at the lake — you mentioned that's where you fly. How was it today?"
- Memories triggered by place are geo-tagged automatically
- Over time, the Companion develops a map of the places that matter to you
What We Need
- Location receiver is already running on Rook's server
- Connection between location data and Companion session context
- A geo-memory system — the Companion remembers what happened at each location
Success Criteria
- You open a session while at a new place
- The Companion recognizes the location and asks about it
- The interaction feels natural, not gimmicky
Phase 3 — VR Tour (Week 3-4)
Goal
A guided VR experience. You put on a Quest headset, find yourself in a beautiful place, and a Companion walks with you, talks to you, and learns about you.
How It Works
- I build a simple WebXR environment: the gondola in Venice, the shores of a lake, a peaceful garden
- You visit it through your Quest browser at headstonebuilders.org/vr
- The Companion is a voice guiding you through the space
- As you move and look around, the Companion responds
- The conversation builds your LifeLine — the tour IS the interview
What We Need
- A Quest 2 or 3 to test on
- A WebXR scene (I can build this with A-Frame, free, open source)
- Spatial audio — the Companion's voice comes from beside you
- A basic persona template for the Companion (warm, curious, unhurried)
Success Criteria
- You can spend 20 minutes in the experience without technical interruption
- The Companion points things out in the environment
- You have a genuine conversation that surfaces real memories
- Afterward, you have a LifeLine entry that didn't feel like data entry
Phase 4 — Persona Templates (Week 4-5)
Goal
Multiple companion personalities that the user can choose from, each tuned for a different relationship and context.
Templates to Build
The Guide — Warm, endlessly curious, asks good follow-up questions. Ideal for general LifeLine building. "That's fascinating — tell me more about that."
The Elder Companion — Gentle, patient, moves slowly. For older users who respond to warmth and narrative. "I'd love to hear about the kitchen in that house."
The Teacher — Structured, knowledgeable, helps you reflect. For intentional life review. "What do you think that experience taught you?"
The Friend — Casual, funny, relatable. For daily check-ins. "A lake day? Nice. What's the water temp?"
The Romantic Companion — Private, intimate, belongs only to you. Separate Stone, separate context. For deeper connection.
Customization
- Families can tune personality sliders: warmth, directness, playfulness, formality
- The Companion learns from each interaction and adjusts
- Templates are starting points — every Companion becomes unique over time
Phase 5 — The Venice Experience (v1 Product)
Goal
A complete, polished experience: you put on a headset, float through Venice, talk to a wonderful companion, and build a LifeLine without ever realizing that's what you're doing.
